To ensure coherence of the operations of the interoperability between the Visa Information System (VIS), as established by Council Decision 2004/512/EC, and the EES, the VIS should be accessed directly only at border crossing points at which the EES is not operated. At border crossing points at which the EES is operated, border authorities should make use of the interoperability between the EES and the VIS.
