Competent authorities should verify economic operators’, EU carriers’ and non-EU carriers’ compliance with the obligations laid down in this Regulation using, if appropriate, the findings provided as part of the certification process or self-declarations. Such verification should be based, as appropriate, on environmental inspections or other verification measures, and should follow a risk-based approach. Inspections should, where possible, be coordinated with those required under other Union legal acts. Competent authorities should provide the Commission with information on the implementation of this Regulation.
