European political parties should not fund, directly or indirectly, other political parties and, in particular, national parties or candidates. European political foundations should not fund, directly or indirectly, European or national political parties or candidates or other foundations. The prohibition of indirect funding should however not prevent European political parties and European political foundations from supporting and engaging with their member parties and member organisations, including through joint European political activities. Moreover, European political parties and their affiliated European political foundations should not finance referendum campaigns.
