Under Decision (EU) 2022/591 of the European Parliament and of the Council, harnessing the potential of digital and data technologies to support environmental policy, including by delivering real-time data, where possible, and information on the state of ecosystems, while increasing efforts to minimise the environmental footprint of those technologies and ensuring that the data and information are transparent, authentic, interoperable and publicly accessible is a long-term priority objective. Data and information on chemicals are therefore essential for the proper development and implementation of the Union’s environmental policy and specifically of its chemicals policy.
