Member States’ active involvement and sharing of all relevant information with Europol are essential to provide a comprehensive and coordinated Union approach to the fight against migrant smuggling and trafficking in human beings. To that end, Member States are encouraged to set up central services specialised in the fight against migrant smuggling and trafficking in human beings, ensuring synergies with national anti-trafficking coordinators or equivalent mechanisms established in accordance with Directive 2011/36/EU, and provide that those central services have sufficient resources to prevent and combat migrant smuggling and trafficking in human beings, and can share information on criminal investigations with Europol efficiently using SIENA.
