Companies might find themselves in situations where their production heavily relies on inputs from one or several specific suppliers. In particular, where the business operations of such a supplier are linked to severe adverse impacts, including child labour or significant environmental harm, and the company has unsuccessfully exhausted all due diligence measures to address such impacts, the company, as a last resort should suspend the business relationship while continuing to work with the supplier towards a solution, where possible using any increased leverage resulting from the suspension. The suspension should end once the adverse impact is addressed.
