The integration of the internal market in the area of insolvency law through this Directive is key to improving the efficiency of the functioning of the capital markets in the Union, including enabling greater access to corporate financing. Therefore, it is necessary to lay down minimum requirements in targeted areas concerning insolvency proceedings, which have a significant impact on the efficiency and length of such proceedings, especially in the case of cross-border insolvency proceedings.
