Technical standards in financial services should facilitate consistent harmonisation and the adequate protection of depositors across the Union. As a body with highly specialised expertise, it is efficient and appropriate to entrust EBA with the development of draft regulatory and implementing technical standards which do not involve policy choices, for adoption by the Commission.
