During the resolution planning stage, when deciding whether an institution should be earmarked for resolution, the fact that an institution is subject to simplified obligations should, in general, be used by the resolution authorities as an indicator that resolving it in the case of failure would not be in the public interest. Conversely, the fact that an institution is not subject to simplified obligations could indicate that resolving it in the case of failure would be in the public interest.
