Article 3 — Prohibition on the import of natural gas from the Russian Federation

1. The import of natural gas in gaseous state via pipelines (pipeline gas) that originates in or is exported, directly or indirectly, from the Russian Federation shall be prohibited, unless one of the temporary exemptions provided for in Article 4 applies. 2. The import of LNG that originates in or is exported, directly or indirectly, from the Russian Federation, or that is obtained from natural gas in gaseous state extracted in the Russian Federation, shall be prohibited, unless one of the temporary exemptions provided for in Article 4 applies. This prohibition shall also apply to LNG that originates in or is exported, directly or indirectly, from the Russian Federation or that is obtained from natural gas in gaseous state extracted in the Russian Federation contained in mixtures.
