Labels communicate important use and safety information to users, for example, the presence in detergents and surfactants of skin or respiratory sensitisers such as allergenic fragrances, preservatives or enzymes. By providing information on the content of those substances on the labels of detergents and surfactants it is possible for users with allergies or allergic predispositions to make informed choices, and potential reactions related to the use of detergents and surfactants are thus reduced. It is therefore necessary to establish labelling requirements for detergents and surfactants.
