Under Regulation (EU) 2024/1348 of the European Parliament and the Council, specific rules apply where an applicant comes from a safe country of origin. In particular, the examination of an application has to be accelerated and, if the applicant has not yet been authorised to enter the territory of the Member States, a Member State may examine the merits of an application in a border procedure.
