In light of the objective of climate neutrality by 2050, greenhouse gas emissions should, by 2040, be reduced and removals enhanced, to ensure that the net greenhouse gas emissions, that is emissions after deduction of removals, are reduced economy-wide by 90 % by 2040 compared to 1990 levels.
