In order to facilitate the marketing of design-protected products, in particular by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and individual designers, and to increase awareness of the design registration regimes existing both at Union and national level, a commonly accepted notice consisting of the symbol should be available for use by design right holders and others with their consent.
