The Commission, in its White Paper of 28 March 2011 entitled Roadmap to a Single European Transport Area – Towards a competitive and resource efficient transport system, presents a vision for the future of the Union transport system and defines a policy agenda to address the future challenges of transport, in particular the need to maintain and develop mobility, and to reduce considerably the greenhouse gas emissions from transport and logistical operations.
