This Directive establishes the legal basis for the exchange of personal data for the purpose of implementing driving disqualifications imposed by a Member State other than the Member State of issuance. That legal basis is in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and Directive (EU) 2016/680. The personal data to be exchanged with the Member State of issuance should be limited to what is necessary to comply with the obligations laid down in this Directive.
