A due diligence mechanism should be introduced to improve the transparency of large donations and to minimise the risk of foreign interference from this source. To that end, European political parties and European political foundations should request detailed identification information from their donors. The Authority should be able to request additional information from donors where it has grounds to believe that a donation has been granted in breach of this Regulation.
